The students of Jaipuria School of Business, Indirapuram got an opportunity to attend a workshop on “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” organized by All India Management Association (AIMA) on 24th October, 2017. Mr. Bhupender Singh, Associate Professor, JSB accompanied the students to the workshop and urged the students to get as much information as possible from the discussion.

The workshop was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) M.M. Pant, who is known to have pioneered the development of computer learning system, with a strong background in Physical Sciences including mathematical technique and computer applications. Dr. Pant has been a board of governors at IIT, Delhi; Pro- vice Chancellor at Indira Gandhi National Open University; and a member of the faculty at IIT Kanpur and MLNR Engineering College. His mission is to create and implement new business opportunities in the area of e-learning and learning facilitation. The main topic of discussion was whether human beings are controlling the machines or the vice-versa. The guest speaker highlighted the point that Artificial Intelligence will always help humans in controlling the machines and would not let the vice-versa to happen.

Dr. Pant further discussed in detail about the composition of AI. Artificial Intelligence consists of three terms –cognitive, robotics and natural interface. Artificial intelligence can do many things as recommendation of engines, speech recognition, facial recognition, autonomous transportation and chatbots. The response to artificial intelligence is to become lifelong learner, become an early explorer, treat intelligent machines as colleages and develop computational thinking. The workshop was indeed very educative and intriguing. The students got a lot queries answered by the distinguished speaker and also shared their own views about Artificial Intelligence.
