Dr. Jitendra Kumar Mishra, Director Jaipuria School of Business welcomed Mr. Prashant Sharma and elaborated on the importance of cross-functional linkages in management. He spoke about how the marketing of financial services is an emerging area.

Mr. Prashant Sharma spoke eloquently about career prospects and the scope of marketing in financial organizations and his journey in the telecom, insurance, and banking sectors. A veteran in the Marketing of Financial Products, he started by explaining the difference between sales and marketing and the skill sets required to emerge as a winner in the field of marketing. He further emphasized that marketers need to be creative and innovative to be successful in their careers.

He advised the students to identify their key strengths and undertake detailed research about the industry in which they are interested in building their career. Creativity and innovation is a prerequisite for Advertising and Brand Management. Similarly, people who are extroverted fit well in Public Relations.

Emphasizing more on the marketing of financial products, Mr. Prashant emphasized on the importance of HNI and ultra-HNI customers. He focused on the importance of Financial Bonds over Fixed Deposits. He articulated how the Financial Industry has changed during the COVID and explained how Kotak Mahindra is helping in building wealth for their clients.

Students asked questions like what all it takes to be a successful Brand Manager and what skill sets are required for a career in Sales and Marketing. Mr. Prashant also discussed the challenges faced by people while climbing the ladder of success.

  5. Students should focus on at least two industry sectors so that they can capitalize on more opportunities in their career.
