YUVA MANCH
Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow proudly hosted the Yuva Manch 2022 organised by Edudevs on 6 August 2022. The Yuva Manch project aims to provide a platform to young students to reflect on the seventeen sustainable development goals (SDGs) as defined by the United Nations Agenda of 2030 and present opinion papers in front of a diverse audience. The aim behind this initiative is to create a sensitive, informed, and sustainable world. The session was conducted under the guidance of Edudevs founder and CEO, Ms Devyani Kapoor and the Principal of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow, Ms Poonam Kochitty.
The event was graced by the presence of Ms Sunita Aron, the Senior Research Editor at Hindustan Times, as the Chief Guest. Moreover, the event witnessed the presence of Mr Piush Antony, UNICEF, and Mr Gaurav Prakash, Chairman MSME, as the esteemed Guests of Honour.
The segment on presentation of opinion papers was intriguing and thought-provoking as students from prestigious schools like La Martiniere Girls College, the Millenium School, Study Hall and Seth Anandram Jaipuria School put forth important and diverse points like quality education in a conflict-ridden world, necessity of climate action and the vulnerability and extinction of marine resources. The paper presentation was followed by cultural performances on the theme of sustainability. Further, the students were informed about the immediate need for action to create a sustainable society during the panel discussion that included many eminent panellists and SDG advocates including the Principal, Ms Poonam Kochitty.
The event was concluded with the Award ceremony wherein Saumitra Saran from Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow won the first prize for his presentation on ‘Life Under Water’.
The Yuva Manch project has provided an enriching and exciting opportunity for all as young students reflected on issues of global significance, their responsibility towards a sustainable future and their role as citizens of the world. The discussions on equality, discrimination, inclusion, and solutions to combat climate action would certainly have a lasting impact as every responsible action is preceded by an informed thought and deliberation.
