World Read Aloud Dayadmin
Every year, on World Read Aloud Day, people all around the globe read aloud together and share stories to advocate for literacy as a human right that belong to all people.
To celebrate World Read Aloud Day, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School Lucknow, organised a Skype Session with Brandy wine Heights School, Top ton Pennsylvania (USA) on 8th February. Students of grade 5 of both the schools interacted with each other and recited a poem.
The students of Brandy wine Heights School recited ‘The Road Not Taken’by Robert Frost; this poem allows the reader to think about choices we make in our life. On the other hand, the students of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, eloquently recited the poem ‘Indian Weavers’ by Sarojini Naidu, which talks about three types of dresses that Indian Weavers weave at three particular times of the day. Metaphorically each time and the dress worn in that time symbolises a particular stage of life.
The session concluded with an interactive session between the students of both the schools. The event gave an opportunity to all the students present to gain knowledge about a different country and their educational system.
This Skype Session also enabled the students to become more confident, realise the importance of reading and to understand a world beyond their classroom.
