World Heritage Day 2019 has this year’s theme as “Rural Landscape”. Every year this day is celebrated around the world on 18th April. At Seth Anandram Jaipuria School “World Heritage Day” was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The day began with the morning prayer song ‘Mera Jeevan Teri Sharan’ by Ms. Preeti Mishra. Ms. Shilpi Kumar as the host of the event introduced the Chief Guest of the programme Ms. Siza Roy, popularly known for her spectacular performances in the famous dance show Dance Diwane where she was the finalist. Ms. Siza Roy, a young and talented dancer, expressed her heart felt gratitude for being invited as the guest on this special day. She spoke a few words related to the origin of dance forms. She also said that she wants to utilize her skills in a well-organized set up and nurture young talents to learn classical and western dance forms. She is passionate to train students in professional dance forms like Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Bollywood and Jazz Contemporary.

She then gave a Bharat natyam dance performance before the students and teachers. Our Principal Ms. Poonam Kochitty expressed her gratitude to the young dancer and urged the students to groom their talent by continuing to practice. Preserving our cultural heritage and passing it on is everybody’s responsibility.

Ms. Priyanka Khanna then took a special assembly on “World Heritage Day”.She discussed how International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) works and declares many sites as heritage sites and preserves them. She showed a video sharing all the 37 sites of India which comes under ‘Heritage Sites’. She then asked the students about their responsibility as a common citizen of India to preserve these places. She shared another video to explain the students that how even common citizens can contribute to preserve their monuments. She showed a video of the cathedral Notre-Dame in France, which was affected by a massive fire blaze recently and how people world wide have pledged upto 9 billion dollars to rebuild this famous cathedral. It was an impactful & enjoyable session.
