The New Normal
“What the Covid-19 Pandemic will change in education depends on the thoughtfulness of education responses today”, by Fernando M. Reimers.
Covid is here to stay. It has become a reality and we have to learn to live with it. The pandemic which is ravaging the globe has already caused serious disruption to the educational opportunities for a vast majority of children who do not have access to the internet or devices. Such losses will beget more educational, and eventually economic and social disadvantage. During the lockdown, studies were expected to be impacted adversely, but the shift from offline to online learning has been swift and found a way to continue to adapt. As a student at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, I am enjoying my lessons the current scenario reminds me of a story “The Fun They Had” which we had studied in class IX English.
Virtual classes cannot replace our real time learning and I can’t wait for the day when our beloved school re-opens, but in the mean while every teacher has been coming up with new ways to make the virtual sessions more interactive. Many tools such as Nearpod, Quizizz, Socrative, Flipgrid, Padlet, etc are being taken up by the teachers to recreate the environment of our schools. All the students present in the class participate in it. We can express our thoughts, share our views, play short and exciting quizzes prepared by our respected teachers and even answer time based questions. What is truly important at this time of schooling from home, is the need for uninterrupted continuation of studies. We are thankful to our school and teachers, who are making learning fun and enjoyable.
