Our IDS journey started way back in the year 2017 when the Principal Ms.Poonam Kochitty along with the Science teacher Ms. Shilpi Agarwal attended a workshop on Creativity and Imagination conducted by the Council. The seeds of striving to get this certification were sown there, but since the school was just a few months old we decided to keep it on hold for a year. We had to begin from April 2020 but as the schools were shut down due to COVID -19 pandemic we finally began in 2021. The Council arranged for a meeting clarifying the new rules and specifications, keeping into account the prevailing Covid. This step was of great help.
Structured meetings with the activity heads, handholding and guiding them at regular intervals, we managed to make headway. Little did we realize then that it was a humongous task with more than 80% of the school students and teachers being a part of it. We feel happy to share that we managed to cover classes from nursery to grade XI and were amazed to see the learning that happened not just for students but teachers alike. We had a number of guest speakers coming up virtually and interacting with the students and sharing real-life industry experiences. The component of the international dimension got the students enthusiastic as they researched, made presentations, did role-plays, created art pieces and the list is endless.
The mid-year briefing by the British Council in December came as a life saver as we were informed that we could take the partner school from any country. Our collaboration with Birla Public School, Doha was a huge success in terms of learning. We got to witness outstanding orators, dancers, singers, etc. who set the stage on fire. The students of both schools were eager to know about each other’s festivals and cuisines.
The dossier was beautifully compiled by our Computer teacher Ms. Ankita Yadav.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the activities conducted under seven themes approved by the British Council. We extend our sincere gratitude to the British Council for making our journey remarkable and eventful.
