SAJS, Lucknow has always believed in taking lessons beyond classrooms and relating it to the real world. Inviting Guest Speakers, to interact with our students and share something new and exciting, has always been an endeavor in this regard. Mr. Kalaimania parent working at Nuance India Private Limited was invited to school on 9th February, 2019 as a Guest Speaker. Mr. Kalaimani, works in the field of Speech Recognition and Voice Technology.
Technology today has pervaded our lives. It is a booming market full of exciting and innovative products and new learning opportunities.Mr. Kalaimani shared the details of his expertise which is related to the technology of recognizing and understanding the voice and performing the required task. He discussed about Automatic Speech Recognition and its uses. He cited various examples where this technique is currently in use- navigation, voice dialing (hands free), in cars. He related this to user friendly products that we use in our daily lives- Alexa&Siri, which can save our time.
Mr. Kalaimani, further explained the process of Speech Recognition. Devang(VIII) shared his knowledge and spoke about turning speech into binary and then into codes. Mr. Kalaimani appreciated Devang’s knowledge about the topic and gave step wise details of how voice is turned into codes. He also explained Speaker Dependent and Speaker Independent technology. He stressed on the fact that man is constantly trying to turn imagination into reality. We are living in the future with technology all around us which should be used in a positive manner. Later he interacted with students and answered their queries patiently. Students could easily relate this technology to Siri(Apple product) and Alexa(Amazon product), at home.
It was an informative session and helped the students to understand the implication and scope of Voice Technology. Principal, Ms. Poonam Kochitty, presented a token of appreciation to Mr. Kalaimani and expressed her gratitude for taking out his valuable time to interact with the students.
