Renowned Kathak Danseuse Ms Mahua Shankar Enthrals A Packed Auditorium at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School
Seth Anandram Jaipuria School welcomed a renowned Classical Kathak Dancer and performing artist Ms. Mahua Shankar in collaboration with Spic Macay on 2nd August 2022.
Every year the school hosts various events through Spic Macay where children are introduced to multiple art forms. The Principal, Ms. Poonam Kochitty, believes in the importance of appreciating art and culture and leaves no stone unturned in exposing the students to these art forms. The school had the honour and rare privilege of hosting a very eminent classical Kathak danseuse and performing artist, Ms Mahua Shankar, who was accompanied by her elder sister Ms. Nupur Shankar for Padhant,
Mr. Zaheen Khan on the Tabla, and Mr. Shuheb Hasan on the Harmonium.
The students were left awe-struck by the enthralling performance of the Artist. Her session was engaging and informative as she made the students aware of the history of the classical dance form-Kathak, the gharanas, and how Kathak as a dance form promulgates the culture of oral traditions and storytelling. The students learnt about the various ‘tihais’ and the finer nuances of this classical dance form. Ms. Mahua is truly an embodiment of grace and elegance, and the school was genuinely delighted and honoured to host her.
Ms.Poonam Kochitty thanked the artist and said that she was completely blown away by her expressions, foot movements and excellent communication skills.
