Poetry Recitation by our Young Stars

“What makes you a poet is a gift for language, and ability to see into the heart of things, and an ability to deal with important unconscious material. When all these things come together, you’re a poet. But there isn’t one little gimmick that makes you a poet. There isn’t any formula for it.”

– Erica Jong

If you want your child to prepare well for life, start early at honing the skills. Communication has a different stature in the world. Elocution improves one’s communication skills and builds confidence in one to share your views and ideas with the world. An elocution competition at the school level gives students a good opportunity to combat the biggest fear factor i.e., stage fear. To develop this skill among the young Jaipurians, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow has organized English Elocution which is divided into different categories. Group A- classes I and II, Group B- classes III-V, Group C- classes VI-VIII and Group D- IX-XII.

The first day kickstarted with the students of classes I and II showcasing their communication skills. The entire event was hosted by our young talents, Arya Arun Pandey and Tanvika Pandey. This was a great initiative taken by the school to provide an opportunity to these kids to enhance their talent for public speaking. The panel of judges included our Principal, Ms. Poonam Kochitty, Head Mistress Ms. Monika Taneja, Mr. Pankaj Rathore, Headmaster and TGT Social Studies Ms. Garvita Singh. Some factors adjudged during the competition were time limit, self-expression, line rhythm, and presentation.

The first contestant was Siddhama Gupta who recited a beautiful poem on ‘Mother Earth’. Samarth Singh presented a poem ‘Judge me not’.  The show moved on with a mesmerizing performance of Praneel Prashanth. Navika Srivastava brightened the day as she explained the importance of a smile and how it can be contagious.

After the powerful performances of grade 1, Leisha Verma of grade 2 truly explained that no one can steal our dreams through her performance. Aahana Gupta blew the minds of the audience through her splendid performance. Vedansh Porwal gave a wonderful message to save the environment through his poem, ‘reduce reuse and recycle. Kritika Singh made us wonder by listening to her soulful sweet voice. Kaashvi Pandey and Rishit Singh explained the meaning of keep trying through her melodious voice.

The last performance of the day by Rishika Chakraborty brought a smile to everyone’s face by her performance.

The Principal, Ms. Poonam Kochitty gracefully expressed gratitude to the guest and voiced her thoughts about all the performances. She spoke about voice modulation, pronunciation, spontaneity and was appreciative of the efforts put in by the anchors and all the participants. She shared that it impresses her to see so much confidence and spark in all the kids. She encouraged the students with her kind words. Head Mistress, Ms. Monica Taneja also shared her views and encouraged all the participants. Head Master, Mr. Pankaj Rathore expressed his astonishment as he was simply very surprised to see such confidence and clear diction in the young lot of the school. All the jury members as well as the audience were mesmerized to see the splendid performances of the day and could not control themselves in sharing their views.
