Visit of Hearing Impaired Childrenadmin
We were overwhelmed to host our very dear guests- the students and staff of St. Francis School for the Hearing Impaired. 16 students of classes 9 and 10 along with 2 sisters and one male teacher came to our institution in the morning on 11.2.2020. After welcoming them, they interacted with our principal, Mrs. Poonam Kochitty and thereafter shown the school premises.
The school counselor- Mrs. Shalini Singh and the special educator- Miss Tarandeep Kaur Bhasin escorted the guests and showed them the Computer Room, Library, Biology Lab, Physics Lab, Dance Room, Music Room, and Art Room. All the activity teachers were elated to host the guests. In the western music room, a couple of students tried learning the drums from our music teachers. They were quick in picking up and learned with the help of counts. In the dance room, a few of our students were present and these students also shook a leg with them. We had student volunteers also from classes 8th and 9th who were very keen on interacting with these students. Despite all odds, a very healthy and friendly interaction happened between the Jaipurians and the students of St. Francis.
After showing them the different rooms, the group of students was divided into half with each one visiting the senior classes (5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th). In all these classes our students were briefed about these students and one of their volunteers showed our students A-Z in Indian Sign language (ISL). Our students happily repeated the gesture after them. Students from both ends were using written communication to express their feelings and putting forth their queries. Seeing a broad smile on the students’ faces also made the teachers ecstatic.
This exchange program of students was indeed a great learning experience for our students. We look forward to hosting more such visits and lending a helping hand by making St Francis students technically more sound through virtual classroom concept and brick and motor concept.
