Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow has a vision to leverage technology to bring classrooms out of the physical boundaries and provide students with a holistic approach across the globe. The world is becoming increasingly multicultural and interconnected, and it is important to be able to mingle and communicate with people of all cultures internationally. On 26th August, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow held a Skype session with a public school of Argentina for a cultural exchange programme. The students of our school proudly presented the cultural heritage of Lucknow, the City of Nawab, Kebab and Adab.
The students enthusiastically showcased the highlights of the city such as the reign of the Nawabs, Ganga-Jamuni-tehzeeb, art and architecture, famous monuments like Roomi Darwaza, Bada Imambara, Clock Tower and Begum Hazrat Mehal Park, famous places which included Hazratganj, Aminabad and Chowk, cuisine and associated restaurants, clothing style and perfumeries. The presentation ended with a dance performance accentuating the traditional Lucknow Gharana Kathak.
The students of Argentina, with the help of their teacher translator, Ms. Lidia, shared Chimichurri Bread recipe. They acquainted the children with the existing flora and fauna of Argentina. Juan, an Argentinian student, showed the location of Argentina on a map of South America. He was observant enough to notice ‘bindis’ worn by us and questioned the reason of putting it on the forehead. He was informed about the chakras in human body according to the Indian Philosophy.
The session ended successfully and helped the students to understand the diversity of the cultures worldwide. Ms. Lidia further added that the programme provided a platform to the young minds for developing life skills.
