Seth Anandram Jaipuria School is now a Microsoft Aspire School (MASP). We acknowledge the fact that technology is indispensable in the field of education. Ithelps the teachers and students to develop the 21st century teaching learning skills. Being a Microsoft School, we are inspired, every day, by educators and thoughtful leaders who have made innovative teaching a way of life and in turn inspired the students to move away from traditional methods of learning. On 18th, April 2019 Microsoft conducted a training program on “Microsoft K12 Education Transformation Framework”for 100 students and 30 teachers of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow.
The resource person Mr. Kaushik Biswas began the training session with Class IX students and shared the importance of Microsoft tools and Office 365 in education. Students of class IX logged in with their own Office 365 IDs and worked on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Yammer and now Microsoft Teams which is a powerful tool for students and educators. Students did the hands-on practice on online Power Point, Sway and Yammer and Mine craft Education Edition. They created collaborative classroom, connected with the school community, and communicated with school staff with the power of One Drive, Yammer, Sway, PowerPoint and more — all from a single experience in Office 365 Education. Mr. Kaushik also informed them that data is saved automatically on cloud and one can work without worrying about lost formatting. He also introduced Minecraft Education Edition,a game-based learning platform with standards-aligned content across K 12 subjects and special features designed for classroom use. The session continued with the other batch of students of classes X and VIII.
The training then continued with the teachers. Along with all the tools of Office 365, Mr Kaushik focused on Microsoft Teams which is a digital hub that brings conversations, content, and apps together in one place. It allowed the faculty, staff, and students to be on one system enabling easy exchange of information, scheduling meetings, and enhancing collaboration. The teachers created a Class Notebook and shared it with each other and realized that one could collaborate without boundaries and save time.
At the end of the session the words of Bill Gates reverberated in the minds of all the participants that technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important resource.
