On Day 2, everybody checked out of the First World Hotel in Genting and headed for Kuala Lumpur for a day of sight seeing. The first visit was the King’s Palace- a historic and opulent building with sprawling lawns behind an imposing gate that bars access to the public. This Palace is home to King Abdullah of Pahang, the king of Malaysia. We then visited a beautiful mosque with hand sculpted figures and beautiful domes. We checked into the serene and plush Garden Inn Hilton Hotel and after a short rest, we headed for the most awaited Petronas Twin Towers in the heart of the city. The majestic and imposing structure took our breath away. It has 87 floors and houses a mall with the latest outlets and brands and eateries. The Christmas season had already arrived, as seen in the festivities, carol singing and bright lighting and decorations. The bus then drove us through the “Freedom Square” where each year the people gather to celebrate Independence Day.

During the day, we visited the leather factory where leather skins of almost all animals, even crocodile and stingray were displayed. An outlet within the premises sold bags, belts, shoes and suitcases. We visited two more outlets- a coffee store and a chocolate factory. Both had an endless stream of tourists pouring in and out. The day ended with a sumptuous dinner at the Malabar Hotel which serves authentic Indian and South Indian meals.
