Janmashtami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Krishna, one of the most powerful and famous reincarnations of Lord Vishnu. According to the Hindu calendar, this festival is celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha or the 8th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadon. To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, Janmashtami was celebrated at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow on 27 August 2021 with mirth and joy. Many students were dressed up as Lord Krishna and Radha, complete with flutes, peacock feathers, etc. The anchors for the program were Arnisha Rai and Parth Das of grade 4. The audience was welcomed with a video in which Priyanka and Panshul of grade 2 were shown dressed up like Radha and Lord Krishna. The celebration started with a beautiful bhajan, “Jaun Tore Charan Kamal Par Vari” sung by Amelia Dutt and Pratyush Himanshu of Grade 4.

The school premises was decorated beautifully and the spirit of festivity was enhanced with Jhankis depicting the life history of Lord Krishna. Aarjav Pandey of grade 3 narrated the fascinating incidents which were depicted in the Jhanki. Followed by the Jhanki, was the documentary on the birth of Lord Krishna which was made by Devansh Tripathi and Saksham Chaudharie of grades 4 and 5. The next program, ‘ Bal Leela’was about the short collection of Lord Krishna when he was a child. Stories like Yashoda’s vision of the entire Universe inside Krishna’s mouth, killing of demoness Putna, Kaliya Naag, and Arishthasura were very well retold by Aaradhya Dwivedi of grade 5 and the stunning video was made by Abhinav Majumdar of grade 8. The next attraction was a small presentation on ‘ Mother Nature’ where Aadya Kheterpal and Sanskriti Singh of grade 5 elucidated the role of mothers. The narrators told that the essence of motherhood is not restricted to women who have given birth but those also who nurture and love us unconditionally.

The winners of the online dance competition- ‘Dance is poetry in motion’-were announced. The winners were Aadya Kheterpal of 5-A, Tanvika Pandey of grade 2-B, Trisha Jain of 4-B, Nirvi Khanna of 5-A, Vanshika Yadav of 3-C. 1st prize was bagged by Dhriti Shukla of 4-A. After the results, Mrs.Pinki Arora and Mrs. Sangeeta Batra taught the children to make the pious Charnamrit . The main attraction of the event was the breaking of the Dahi Matki by senior students. A beautiful dance presentation was done by primary students.

The Head Master of the school, Mr. Pankaj Rathore blessed all the students on this auspicious day. He emphasized that nothing is impossible, a person can achieve whatever he/she wishes through proper planning and believing in teamwork. After the inspiring words, Krishna Vani was played which was done by Drivit Batra of grade 7.

The program ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Amita Shukla where she thanked all the students and teachers for their support in making the Janmashtami celebration a grand success.
