As the world battles the Covid-19 pandemic on a war-footing, India’s traditional system of Yoga has established its roots globally. It is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition and helps to boost immunity and improves the overall health of an individual. The International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on 21 June since 2015 and people all over the world dedicate some time of the day to experience this holistic practice of wellbeing.
The International Day of Yoga was celebrated virtually at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow due to the closure of schools, in the wake of the Corona pandemic. The Physical Education mentors, Mr.Yogesh Pandey, Mr.Akhilesh, Mr.Amulya and Mr.Sachin Gurung conducted a one hour session with the students of class V upwards in the morning hours.
The students were taught various asanas like, Trikonasana, Virabhadrasana, Tadasana, Uttanasana ,Utkatasana to name a few. They were told the importance of correct posture and breathing while performing these asanas. Both the teachers encouraged the students to follow a strict regime of exercise during this unprecedented time with at least thirty minutes of yoga. The session was appreciated by all.
