Exploring New Ways to Integrate Technology in the Classroom
In one of the classes of GK in Grade VI, while teaching and learning about art, music, culture, and history, I explored a new way to introduce Culture, Art, History, and Music of various countries. What can be better than integrating Technology with subjects like General Knowledge?
I introduced an amazing tool Google Museum by Google Art & Culture. Google Arts & Culture (formerly Google Art Project) is an online platform of high-resolution images and videos of artworks and cultural artifacts from partner cultural organizations throughout the world. Through the Virtual Gallery Tour (also known as Gallery View) we virtually walked through the galleries of each cultural organization, using the same controls as Google Street View or by clicking on the gallery’s floor plan. Students even created artworks to create a personalized virtual exhibition. This online tool is equipped with AI and AR tools which are even good for younger kids. Moreover, we had a lot of fun exploring different games like word puzzles and many more. We even created our dashboard of achievements and students shared their experiences by creating artwork. They were happy while exploring challenges given inside the play mode.
Students found this tool useful as they can learn a lot about History and they can virtually time travel to the ancient times view how old paintings were done and how ancient people used to live.
Overall, it was an exciting and engaging class all thanks to technology, good internet connectivity and curiosity of students.
