EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING….A VIRTUAL TOUR

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING….A VIRTUAL TOUR

It was Saturday and the children were not in the mood to study traditionally. ‘ Ma’am pls take up a quiz today’. I told them that we’ d try something even more exciting. Then followed a series of activities that involved both a Virtual Lab and a Virtual Tour. The children were thrilled and enjoyed the whole experience. They didn’t want me to stop. I asked them which chapter we were going to start, and they were quick to respond, ‘Motion and time’. They drew clocks in Nearpod and then laughed while watching each other’s drawings. I showed them a picture of the children playing in the park and addressed the children in the picture by their names, like “What is Dhruv doing in the picture?”, and “What kind of motion is Ayushi showing in her skating moves?” and they were easily able to identify all the different types of Motion. It was really a fun filled class and I was happy to see my class learning while they were enjoying each and every moment. Not for a moment did I feel that we were studying online. Everyone seemed so happy and joyful. And that’s what learning should be all about. Fun and engagement.

My Science Class Experience

Well, talking about my Science class today, it was fun-filled and awesome! Today we did activities in Nearpod, based on the topic ‘Motion and Time’. The first Activity that we did, was in the PhET Simulation Virtual lab, where we were given a pendulum and we observed the change in its time period, on varying its length, mass of the bob, and gravity. I observed that, as we reduce the gravity, the pendulum would move in a complete 360 circle and as we increase gravity, it would move at a slower pace. I could also observe the movement of the pendulum, on other celestial bodies, such as Moon, Jupiter, Mars etc. by changing the gravity settings. After the Virtual lab, we had an interactive session in which all of us had to draw a clock, without using pencil or paper, instead we had to draw it on the computer screen, using our mouse.  The last activity was the best one, it was like the icing on the cake, in which we were taken on a virtual tour to ‘The Time and Clock Museum’ at Maramures. We saw a lot of ancient clocks of different shapes and sizes, most of them calibrated in Roman Numerals and also something like a mechanical time machine. So, this was all about my experience and at last I would like to add that it was splendid.

I am really overwhelmed and excited, and I wanted to share today’s class experience with everyone.

Ma’am today I had a really new experience in the science class, and that’s because I was fascinated, by the way you taught us today, especially the new teaching method, like, most of the teachers, teach us through quizzes, but the virtual tour of the ‘Time and Clock’ Museum, was awesome and was a great initiative. It was extremely fun to watch different ancient clocks of different time periods.  It was really surprising, and then, I really liked, how you interacted with us, by asking us to draw a clock, like usually all the teachers try their best to make us understand and learn well, but I personally love the Science classes, as they teach us something new and exciting in a different yet interesting way. I also loved experimenting with the pendulum in the Virtual simulation lab, it was a completely different, and fun-filled experience for me. I enjoyed exploring the different possibilities using the pendulum. I would just like to say that, the class was AMAZING, and I hope you continue to teach us like this.
