“Winning is the habit of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow.” This was a remark from one of our parents which gave us an immense sense of joy. SAJS, Lucknow got to hear this on August 17,2019 when our team stood first in an Interschool Spelling Bee Competition at Wynberg Allen School Mussorie.
Wynberg Allen School, Mussorie organized a Literary Fest named, ’Le Mot Juste in which twenty schools across India participated. It was an Interschool competition having events like English Debate, Story Telling, Poetry Writing, Spelling Bee, Hindi Debate, etc. There were various categories as per the class of the participant. SAJS, Lucknow also participated in two categories – Story Telling and Spelling Bee.
In story-telling, our team had three participants, Itisha Singh(IX-C), Mihir Tandon(VIII-A) and Soumya Pandey(VI-A). There were fifteen to twenty participants in each division. Our students gave a tough competition to them and Mihir got the recognition for Most Promising Speaker.
In the Spelling Bee competition, Devanshi Mohan(IX-A), Sanskar Singh(VII-A) and Tanmay Srivastava(V-A) were in the team. Devanshi from Division 3 was competing with the students of classes IX-XII. There were approximately thirty participants, out of which she was the top scorer(19/20) in the first round. In the finals there were only six children of different schools, Devanshi gave the maximum number of answers in all the categories which were- Jumbled Jargon, Amazing Anagrams, Take a Pick and Rapid Fire. Devanshi finally stood first after winning the tie breaker against a child from Doon International School.
