English Elocution Competition 2020admin

Oral language skills form the foundation of literary and academic success. A solid foundation of oral language helps children become successful readers, strong communicators, as well as increases their confidence and overall sense of well-being. In order to promote oratory skills amongst students, Seth AnandramJaipuria School, Lucknow, organized virtual English Elocution on 04 and 05 August 2020 for classes VI to XI.
The students were encouraged to select their own poem. The genre in the elocution varied. Every participant was given 2-3 minutes to recite the poem. It was indeed astounding to see how beautifully students presented their poems. The delivery showed great enthusiasm and was fluent, erudite and articulate. 14 students from Grade VI – VIII and 22 students for Grade IX -XI participated. The parameters for the judgement were expression, pace & clarity, voice modulation and pronunciation.
In VI-VIII, the poems ranged from thought-provoking poems like I Rise by Shiny Shukla and Go Not To The Temple by Kovid Sharma to humorous poem like Television by Saumya Pandeyand This Morning Is Our History Test by Tanmay Srivastava.
IX-XI, the poem selected their thought process and mindset-Turbulent Waters by TwishaSrivastava, Don’t Give Up by Swastika Gupta, If by Aryaka Srivastava and We Wear Masks by Agrani Tiwari.
The participants displayed their oratory skills with zeal and enthusiasm. The competition culminated with words of encouragement from the Principal, Ms. Poonam Kochitty.
