India has a rich culture and it is our responsibility to share the beauty of this culture with the children. Festivals and stories are the best way to make the children respect, understand, and appreciate cultural differences.

The Pre-primary wing at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School celebrates each festival with great pomp and show. Various online activities were held during Navratri. Pre Nursery engaged in storytelling. The children enjoyed making their own dandiya sticks with recycled materials like newspaper, old cloth, ribbons, and threads. Once the children made the dandiya sticks, they were ready to enjoy the “Garba night” along with their parents.

Class Nursery began the celebration with a short story on Dussehra and MahishasurVadh and how Goddess Durga was born. The children were also made aware of Navratri and that some communities celebrate it as Durga Puja. The children seemed to be excited as they made an effigy of Ravana. Now they had their own Ravan ready to be burnt and they didn’t have to step out to celebrate the festival as they did every year.

Class KG celebrated Dussehra virtually with full zeal and enthusiasm. According to our culture “Ravana Dahan” is a very important part of this celebration but this time instead of burning effigies of Ravana our kids planted saplings of their feelings and attributes in the form of emojis which they wanted to grow and spread in the society. So this time they promised instead of burning negativity let’s enhance and grow our positive & pragmatic traits.

Finally, the celebration took off with the most awaited ‘Dandiya Night’ organized by the School where children and parents participated with great energy and fun.
