August 15 is a red letter day in the history of India. It was on this day that our country won her freedom in 1947. That momentous day is today.
Inspite of the pandemic, which has gripped the entire world, our Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at our Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow on 15th August 2021, to mark the 75th year of freedom from British rule.

The special occasion started with the hoisting of the tricolor by the Principal Ms. Poonam Kochitty in the school premises. It was followed by the National Anthem.

The students participated virtually in an array of events. To commemorate the occasion, a speech was delivered by Shauryaveer Pandey which enthused everyone with a patriotic spirit and a sense of commitment towards the nation. Next, the children of grades XI and XII sang the patriotic song “Aazadi Ke Liye”, which gave a message of harmony and brotherhood.

The tiny tots of pre-primary showcased their respect and love towards their nation by dressing up as their favourite national personages. Anagh Gupta of KG-B expressed his gratitude towards the Indian soldiers. Ahiuday of KG-A narrated the sacrifice made by Captain Vikram Batra in the Kargil War. Next was Evanaka of KG-B who was dressed up as Rani Laxmi Bai. Akshat Rajan of Nursery spoke brilliantly about the forest man of India Mr. Jadav Payeng. All the performances were very impressive heart touching.

Mesmerizing dances were performed by the winners of the Online Solo Dance Pageant Competition. Jhanvi Gupta of grade VII A and Fariha Rida of VI C were the joint winners. They won everyone’s heart with their grace and perfect rhythmic movements. Vaani Shah of VIII C won the second prize and her dance won a lot of accolades. Kovid Sharma of VII C and Anvi Pandey of VII stood third and their performance was commendable. All winners left the audience spellbound.

To pay a tribute to the soldiers, the song ‘Saare Jahan SaeAcha’ was played by the students on their instruments with perfect sync and rhythm. Prakhar Tripathi of grade VIII recited a poem that touched the hearts of all and evoked a feeling of patriotism.

Yoga helps us stay fit and healthy, mentally as well as physically. Keeping this in mind the students demonstrated various yoga asanas which was well in-line with our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s message: “A healthy body and a disciplined mind are the foundations of a world free from fear”.

The students of Grades VIII-XII also displayed their Taekwondo skills with passion and perfection. Their talent was astounding. They are the ones who can help build a better and a peaceful world.

The Principal, Ms. Poonam Kochitty addressed the gathering and appealed to take pride in being an Indian and fulfilling one’s duty and responsibility towards the nation and the world. She emphasized that the behaviour of an individual towards the others is of utmost importance and the legacy that we have inherited from our elders should not die. She further added that these trying times could not dampen the spirit of pride in the students as they participated in these events with great zeal and enthusiasm.

The power-packed Grand Finale was the icing on the cake. All the children performed incredibly. Their spirit and zeal were unmatched.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Amita Shukla. She thanked the parents for being a part of the event. She also expressed her gratitude towards all for making the special occasion a memorable one.
