To combat the problem of Malnutrition a team of Class IX students from our school is trying to find out the cause and solution at the grass root level. Aiming towards the same, the team visited Maternity and Pediatrics Departments of Ursula Government Hospital. Students interviewed pregnant women and mothers of newly born babies to assess their dietary habits, feeding patterns and the effects of malnutrition in children between 0 – 5 years. They also verified if the mothers were aware of the management and prevention of malnutrition in their children. A team of Doctors and nursing staff of these Departments helped in conducting the survey. Students took the weight and measured height and circumference of head, upper arm, and thigh of the diseased.
This was an enriching learning experience for the students to find out the Scientific way to combat social issues
