I fell in love with books the way one falls asleep slowly and then all at once.

The students of our school recently had a wonderful opportunity to become a part of the ‘Kanpur Children’s Literary Festival’ organized by Roots and Wings. It was held at Methodist High School, Kanpur on the 2nd and 3rd of February, 2019. Participants ranged from Classes II to VIII.

The students were segregated into two groups according to their ages. Many renowned authors, story tellers, musicians as well as bloggers conducted different sessions and shared a lot about their fields of expertise. Ms. Swati Maheshwari conducted a session on ‘Unlocking our senses’ while Mrs.Rupa Pai kindled in us a flame of interest for the Gita and the Upanishads.

We even had interesting activities in between the sessions like Pidilite paintings, magnet makeup, hand lettering, mental minds, etc. Another enrapturing performance was given by Roy Roberts along with his fellow companion who had come all the way from Africa. The left the audience spellbound with their drumming skills.

Woven into stories, their energy was contagious making everyone tap their feet to their drum beats.

Karen De’ Paula a renowned ballet dancer from Brazil and an innovative and interactive session ‘Imagery Theater’ helped students learn more about their body movements and the flow of their lives. She even had a masked play which was very creative and allowed the students to open their perception which varied from person to person. There was also a panel discussion conducted by Roopa Pai, Dr. Alok Bajpai and Dr.Nita Jain, who enlightened the audience with their words of wisdom.

The book written by Raj Smirit was launched in the festival. A competition by the author of Cherry-Berry tales was conducted in which Ashlesha Misra was awarded the 1st Position and now her story will be published in the upcoming edition of the Cherry-Berry tales with her name as a co-author.

It was an unforgettable experience for the students as well teachers
