Exam Time Agony Aunt

Exam Time Agony Aunt

sleepSleepless nights. Empty cups of coffee. Endless piles of books and sheets scattered all over. Puffy eyes and dark circles. Premature ageing. It is the most vehemently hated, dreaded time of the year again. Each day becomes doomsday and each chapter becomes a battle to innocent students like you and I. Passing- let alone scoring well- is victory in itself. Appearing for the test, alone, is survival.

My first and foremost, and perhaps most fruitful advice to you is, do not leave the entire syllabus for the last day. This would be the right time to call me a hypocrite, but trust me, I have zero regrets. Why spend your short-lived youth at the desk, learning, mugging and shoving information down your throat; when you can sleep the day away in peace, in the comfort of your bed and blanket? There’s nothing like a day spent napping.

examFellow students, believe me- I understand your limitless plight. I’ve been- and still am- a first-hand victim to the same, societal-imposed atrocity called examinations, as you are. I, too, go through phases of internal hyperventilation at the image of my mathematics textbook. You are not alone in your battle. Your voice is heard.

As a matter of fact, after more than ten years of being a rat in this bafflement called education; after more than a decade of being subjected to the same, compulsory mental burdens as you are, if there’s anything I’ve mastered in life, it is the self-taught art of mugging chapters after chapters the night before the exam.

Here’s a quick tutorial on how YOU can master this art as well-

Aimless doodling won’t get you anywhere, kids. Day-dreaming about meeting Sachin Tendulkar won’t help you pass your exams. I know this is a feat in itself, but pay attention in class, for then thou shall have an idea of the lesson; thou shall know what is important and what’s not and thou shall pass.
Amen to that.

Make worksheets your bible to last-minute success. Trust me on this, I speak from experience.

I know this is hard to follow- who doesn’t like complaining about the syllabus to a close pal on a tiresome day before the exam? However, comrades, forget not that in moments of crisis, each second is the elixir of life. You can always discuss the burdens of student life later.
That’s pretty much it, fellow Jaipurians. Remember, we’re in this together. In a battle, there is victory and there are wounds, but there is always the light at the end of the tunnel. Follow that light with all your might.

I hope you survive this exam season with the entire 2018 ruckus around the corner. All the best and happy holidays!
