WORLD MUSIC DAYSeth Anandram Jaipuria School Ghaziabad
“Music is the universal language of mankind.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Music has the power to tie people in a single long string of rhythm and create something completely pure and magical. It has the power to touch hearts. This is one of the reasons why World Music Day is celebrated in more than 700 cities in 120 countries. This fun filled festival was originated by Jack Lang, Minister of Culture of France and Maurice Fleuret. It was rejoiced in Paris for the first time in 1982. It is now celebrated every year with pomp and splendour. People come out on the streets and “Faites de la musique” , that is, make music. Free concerts are organized by artists for fun and not for payment. Music is the language of one’s soul. It boosts us through our highs and lows and can assist us in expressing ourselves. Music can be the language for a person to express their gratitude and their devotion towards the Almighty, can be made for a person to find their solace in rhythm, can be a highlighter of a precious moment that can be lived over and over again with just a song. It has the potential to bind people, cultures and religions. Seth Anandram Jaipuria School highlights the importance and greatness of music very aptly. They promote one’s musical talent through various opportunities and events. The musical love of pupils is taken forward through performances, on occasions as Founder’s Day, Annual Sports Meets and Spic Macays. Here, the art of music isn’t taught, it is refined so as to bring out the sheen talent of students. In reality, one can never teach someone music, it lies inside of every soul. We just need to explore it within, use it to appeal to people’s conscience and spread the message of love through it. On this World Music Day, we should broaden our horizons and spread the sense of peace and affection through the beautiful art of music.
