Spic Macay-2019

“Science is curiosity about life, art is wonder at life, philosophy is an attitude towards life and religion is reverence for life”. True culture includes all these four aspects and therefore education in aesthetics is as essential if not more than mere intellectual or physical education.Keeping this in mind and aiming to bequeath the cultural legacy to our young children and making them experience mysticism embodied in the Indian Heritage, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Vasundhara Ghaziabad, in association with Spic Macay, organized a mesmerizing classical dance rendition by the renowned Kathak Dancer Rani Khanam ji – the proud recipient of 5th National Women Excellence Award 2012; Asian Cultural Council Fellowship on “World Dance and Islamic Culture”; The Govt. of India’s: Fellowship and the India Foundation’s Award as Outstanding Kathak Dancer, on August 13, 2019.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest Rani Khanam ji, Ms. Manju Rana– Principal cum Director, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Vasundhara Ghaziabad, and other eminent dignitaries- Mr. Vinod Malhotra– Senior Advisor, Mr. Devendra Narang- Director Jaipuria Institute of Management and  Mr. Harish Sanduja-Direcror School. Ms. Manju Rana in her welcome address expounded the role of Art in the holistic development of children and lauded CBSE’s recent initiative to integrate art with educationnot only for a joyful and experiential learning but also to create a strong nexus between Indian culture and our children.

With a deep comprehension of ‘Kathak’ dance tradition and aprofound knowledge of Islamic verses, Rani Khanam ji presented a  revolutionary repertoire of sacred dance on Sufiana Composition in Kathak dance, which led the audience to an ecstatic state where they felt one with God.The spectacular footwork, amazing spins, ‘Nazakat and Padhant’(Chanting of bols, toda, tukdas by dancer herself), melodious sounds of ‘ghunghroos’, breath-taking techniques both in pure dance and art of ‘abhinay’, exquisite ‘mudras’, elevated the audience to a different mystic spiritual plane. The team of accompanying instrumentalists Pradeep Mishraji- Tabla Vadak, Vocalist – Shuheb Hasanji and Nisha Kesarjifurther added to the divinity of the performance.

Rani Khanamji in her interaction with the audience spoke of classical dance being the highest form of arts and urged all the students to learn one or the other classical dance forms. She believes that besides training a child to be physically fit and disciplined, classical dance develops and sublimates emotions and helpsin understanding our own selves better.

Completely captivated and enthralled by the nuances of ‘Kathak’ dance form, the children had an edifying peek into the divine world of Indian Culture and felt inspired to traverse this timeless domain of arts.
