Republic Day Celebration in Seth Anandram Jaipuria School Ghaziabad

“Freedom in the mind, Strength in the words,
The pureness in our blood, Pride in our souls, Zeal in our hearts,
Let’s salute our nation on Republic Day.”

Republic Day is a national holiday in India. It honors the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950 replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India and thus, turning the nation into a newly formed republic.

The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country’s transition towards becoming an independent republic. 26 January was chosen as the date for Republic day because it was on this day in 1929 when the Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress.

The main Republic Day celebration is held in the national capital, New Delhi, at the Raj path, before the President of India. On this day, ceremonious parades take place at the Raj path, which are performed as a tribute to India; its unity in diversity and rich cultural heritage. National flag hoisting in various parts of the country are common practices followed on this day.

Nearly seventy years ago, the founding fathers of the Indian republic-Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, B. R. Ambedkar, Subhas Chandra Bose and Vallabbhai Patel—steered our new nation.

Republic Day is a very glorious day for all of us, as on this very day the Constitution of our country was established. Just like rules are important for living, rules are also very important for controlling a country. The law and order and the rules of our nation came in effect on this day. On this special occasion our Mother India became an independent nation, free from Britisher’s. So, this day is very important for me and must be honored from all the citizens of India.
