Raksha BandhanSeth Anandram Jaipuria School Ghaziabad
Raksha bandhan is a festival of exchanging love and affection among brothers and sisters. It is also a great sacred verse of unity, acting as a symbol of life’s advancement and a leading messenger of togetherness. Raksha means protection and Bandhan means bond that is, it is a festival to tie a thread of protection.
Raksha Bandhan is a time for pampering the sisters. On this auspicious occasion, the sisters tie a sacred thread i.e. rakhi, on their brother’s wrist. It is done so with the intent to wish good health and long life.
On the other hand, the brothers, in turn, bless their sisters and pledge to protect them and care for them all their lives. The sisters receive a lot of love and pampering on this day. It is in the form of chocolates, gifts, money, dresses and more. The relationship between brothers and sisters is incomparable, no matter how much they fight each other over trivial matters, but still they do not hold back from doing anything for each other.
Thus, I would like to conclude with a beautiful snippet,
“A sibling may be the keeper of one’s identity, the only person with the keys to one’s unfettered, more fundamental self.”
