Commemorating the Earth Day

Commemorating the Earth Day

Commemorating the Earth Day

Our Mother Earth with her grandeur, exquisite beauty and altruism has been placed at a divine altar for preserving and flourishing life in all its varied forms. The delicate comradeship among Earth, nature and human beings would have witnessed an enduring bond had avarice and apathy of the latter not made it infirm. Our Mother Earth is ailing and suffering and to protect it from its seemingly inevitable end while we still have time, The United Nations made an elaborate plan for the sustainable development of the world – the plan that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future enerations to meet their own needs. 17 sustainable goals set by it in this direction call for concerted efforts towards building an inclusive, sustainable and resilient future for people and planet.

Completely comprehending the need to promote prosperity across the world and protect our planet, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Vasundhara, Ghaziabad celebrated Earth Week from 15 April to 22nd April 2019.Multitudes of activities aiming at spreading awareness among the students and community at large about the present deplorable plight of the earth and our duties towards alleviating this distress, were organized in the school’s premises. Special assemblies conducted by the children from Nursery to class XII throughout the week, surfaced the need to become warriors to save our Mother earth from our own misdoings. The elocutions, dance drama, skits, songs, recital of poems, documentaries etc. in the assembles ,highlighted the need to execute the 17 sustainable goals made by United Nations, be it the goal of – No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Decent Work and Economic Growth, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, Reducing Inequality, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life On Land, Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions or Partnerships for the Goals. Inter-House competition ‘Botannica’ saw beautiful displays created by all the four ‘houses’. These displays showcased the ‘gardens’ made by the students with the help of ecofriendly material. The Poster Making activity on ‘Earth Day’ was a beautiful manifestation of how reverentially the earth is perceived by our children. Plantation drive on a massive scale saw students coming together with all their vigour to undertake the task of planting saplings in the garden of the school. The celebrations culminated on 22nd April with children reminiscing their week-long zealous efforts , with snapshots of the activities undertaken. On this officially declared International Mother Earth Day children pledged to keep contributing their bit towards creating an Earth where there is just balance among the economic, social, and environmental needs of present and future generations. The awakening spree organized under the guidance of our Principal cum Director, Ms. Manju Rana with the relentless support of the Vice Principal Ms. V. Suprabha , the Head Mistress (VI-X) Ms. Sonal Srivastava, Head Mistress (I-V) Ms. Indu Kohli, was a huge success and urged everyone to always remember that “We have not inherited this earth from our forefathers; we have borrowed it from our children”.
