Jaipuria School of Business, Indirapuram organised a workshop on “Virtual Stock Trading” on 2nd November, 2017 in the campus. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Nantu Mahapatra who is a Regional Marketing Executive with ICICI Securities. Mr. Mahapatra first, explained to the students the meaning of the basic terms like investment, stocks, savings, shares, etc. The speaker also discussed the difference between an investor and a trader.
Virtual Stock Trading or Paper Trading is a simulated trading process in which would-be investors can ‘practice’ investing without committing real money. This is done by the manipulation of imaginary money and investment positions that behave in a manner similar to the real markets. The students learnt the practical implications of trading through the Stocks Mind Game, a simulation developed by ICICI Securities to give the students/trainees to experience the stock market virtually. The students of PGDM at JSB got the opportunity to be part of the trading game where they were given imaginary money and were involved in ‘practical’ trading. The session was indeed very informative and interesting.
