The whole world is moving towards Outcome Based Education (OBE). OBE is basically an educational theory according to which education must have some clearly mentioned outcomes which may be later measured. It is a theory that bases each part of an educational system around goals or outcomes. It is mandated that the educational institutions follow the approach of OBE in order to be productive and competitive. Keeping this view in mind, Jaipuria School of Business, Indirapuram, organized a Directors’ Conclave on 28thJuly, 2018 in the campus. The Guests of Honour, the Directors, Executive Directors and Principals from different institutions in and around Delhi were invited to deliberate and discuss very important and pertinentissue of OBE in today’s scenario. In addition to the Directors and Principals, the Conclave was also attended by the members of the Faculty at Jaipuria School of Business. The event was convened by Dr. Santosh Kumar, Associate Professor and was compered by Prof. Yusuf Mehdi, Assistant Professor at JSB.
The event commenced with Prof. Yusuf Mehdi introducing the Jaipuria Group and the Guests from different colleges. It was followed by a welcome address by Dr S. K. Mahapatra, Director, Jaipuria School of Business who welcomed the Guests and expressed gratitude to them that they all took out time and participated in the conclave. He further talked about some of the finer aspects of Outcome Based Education which must be taken into account while talking about it. Sh. Vinod Malhotra, Member, Board of Governors, JSB, in his address, discussed about the challenges and the opportunities in OBE and very beautifully related the theory with Bhagwadgita. Mr. Vinod further threw light on various aspects of Outcome Based Education.
Dr B. S. Hothi, Director, GIBS, New Delhi talked about the need of getting trained and experienced teachers in order to expect good delivery of the course content. Dr. Praveen Pachauri, Director, NIET, Greater Noida, started his talk with an anecdote emphasizing the fact that the fault never lies in the students but in the method of delivery of the course content and in planning. The further discussion on the topic brought out various very valuable inputs from the heads of institutions and these inputs would certainly help all the institutions improve the quality of education that is imparted to the students who are the would-be-managers and professionals.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Santosh Kumar, and the presentation of mementos by Sh. Vinod Malhotra and the Director to the guests of honour as tokens of appreciation and gratitude.
