About Event

“Mercato” – The Marketing Haat, as it is more popularly known, is an innovative tool for conducting market research and consumer behavior pioneered by Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. The fair is organized, supervised and conducted by – the Marketing Club of Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad.
3rd November 2018, Saturday

Active participation from the residents of Delhi NCR, who lovingly refer to the fair for purchasing, fun and enjoyment. This initiative of students and institute in large not only the biggest event in the Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad calendar but the biggest marketing event in the country organized by a student body. The event is scheduled to be held on 3rd November 2018, Saturday from 1 pm onwards in Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. “Mercato” – The Marketing Haat is aiming at creating an aspiration value for every student at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad and helping the MBA students to develop selling, marketing/ branding and motivational skills.

Various product categories like Electronics, Consumer durables, Automobiles, FMCG,Food, Fashion, Eco- Friendly products, Kids items, Handicrafts, Corporate Gifts, Games, and lots more will be covered with a whole bunch of entertainment through Live Band/Dance/Musical Performances, running Management/Business Quizzes, Kids Drawing Competition, Baby Show, Bumper Prize etc.

The Jaipuria Institute of Management, Indirapuram, Ghaziabad ground hosts the research stalls disguised as gaming stalls and popular attractions to simulate an actual fair. The fair and the promotional aimed at relevant target group draws people from Delhi NCR and the adjoining areas who participate in the disguised research. Games and events are designed to surrogate actual research questions. This helps to elicit unbiased and accurate information about consumer perceptions and preferences. The greatest testament to the power of this Market Research tool lies in the fact that companies have based their strategic business decisions on the research results which have emanated from the event.


Event Rules

General Rules:

  • It is a team event. Three people can be part of the team.
  • There will be three rounds for the event.
  • In case of a tie, a short quiz will be conducted.
  • Decision of the judges would be final and binding.

Round 1: Pehchaan Kaun (Word Search)

  • A ‘Crossword Puzzle-Word Search’ (Pehchaan Kaun) round based on identification of brand/company names. The teams will be given a Word Search puzzle sheet and have to identify various brand/company names that will test the awareness of the participants.
  • One minute will be allowed to all the participating teams for filling the Advertising Crossword Puzzle-Word Search.
  • One mark each will be given for each correct Word (Brand/Company name) identified.
  • No Negative marking will be there for the incorrect answer/s.

Note: This round may be converted into ‘Elimination Round’ depending on the quantum of participation (number of teams) in the final event.

Evaluating/ Judging Criteria: Marks scored in the round

Round 2: Batao to Zara (Advertising Quiz)

  • It will be a quiz based on advertisements (print, electronic and other media) that will test the awareness of the participants.
  • The questions will be asked in round robin manner. Questions will not be passed to the other team in case a team can’t answer the question.
  • There will be negative marking for wrong answers.
  • Every correct answer will fetch +10 marks and every wrong answer will lead to a -5 marking.
  • Judges may decide to convert it into an elimination round.

Round 3: Andaz-e-Bayan (Enacting Ad)

  • A theme/product would be provided to every team. It will be a common product/theme for every team.
  • Total 10 minutes will be given to all the finalist teams to ponder over the theme, and create a print as well as TV ad (creative) for the product/theme with appealing Tagline/ Punchline.
  • Team members will have to enact their TV ad. Maximum two minutes will be given to each team for presentation/acting.
  • Judges are free to ask questions on the presentation given by the team members.

Evaluating/ Judging Criteria: Marks based on the team’s- Creativity, Content (Message), Tagline/Punchline, Narration, Drama, Acting.

Final Evaluation: The final result will be made after totaling the scores of each team from all the rounds conducted and thus ranked accordingly.

  • Entry Fee is Rs. 2,000/- for each Band that should payable in advance.
  • All instruments have to be managed by the Band Members.
  • Audio System and mikes etc. will be provided by the Institute.
  • Transportation facility will be managed by the Band Members.
  • All the teams are required to arrange their clothing and makeup by themselves.
  • Each team is required to have a minimum of 6 members to a maximum of 10 members.
  • Each team is required to provide its own music to the music team of JIM.
  • Any inappropriate behavior from any team will not be tolerated.
  • This will not be a competition; the teams will participate to showcase their talent.
All the members have to give an entry fee for participation of Rs 100 each
  • Entry Fees: No entry fees.
  • Age category and Theme:

  • Registration can be done online or on the spot in the Drawing Competition Stall.
  • Drawing sheet will be provided by our team.
  • Children need to carry their individual Tools for drawing & coloring stationary items.
  • Registration can be done online or on the spot 2:00 pm onwards.
  • No Entry Fees.
  • Age Criteria- 1 month to 3 years
  • Children will be entitled to gifts and titles as per their performance
  • Each institute/ college can provide a maximum of three performances.
  • The performance can be solo or duet or group.
  • This will not be a competition, participants will perform in order to showcase their talent and bring laurels to their institute.
  • The participants are required to carry all the prerequisite for makeup, dressing and playback in case required.
  • Any kind of inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
All the members have to give an entry fee for participation of Rs 100 each
  • Each institute/ college can provide a maximum of three performances.
  • The performance can be solo or duet or group.
  • This will not be a competition, participants will perform in order to showcase their talent and bring laurels to their institute.
  • The participants are required to carry all the prerequisite for makeup, dressing and playback track to be provided to JIM Music Team, two hours prior to the performance.
  • Any kind of inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
