Annual Report and School Achievements of the session 2018-19
The third session at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Lucknow 2018-19 has been an extremely eventful.Our School has made immense strides especially in integrating Technology into the curriculum. We are proud to be the only Microsoft Certified School in the city of Lucknowthanks to the initiative & driveof my Computer teacher, Ms. Reetu Pandey and a team of 12 other enthusiastic teachers all certified Microsoft Innovative Educators.
At Seth Anandram Jaipuria School Lucknow, it is our sincere endeavor to make each day an exciting one for the children. We consciously grab every opportunity to expose children to learning experiences that will give them that extra edge. We have therefore engaged the students in a host of activities ranging from global skype sessions, virtual field trips participating in building “Quadcopters” using drone technology, making & launching rockets through the Rocketry Challenge and many more.
As early as May’2018 four of our students qualified for the 8th National Microsoft Office Specialist Contestin the very first attempt and one student stood amongst the top 50 in India. We then became the only School from India to participate in a First ever online Global Innovation Camp Challenge. This was a 6-week challenge and our team won several badges like “Design Thinkers” &“Certified SDG Advocates”. Our students have participated in various skype sessions- so whether its viewingthe National Art Gallery in Victoria Australia or the Yellow Stone National Park USA, mystery skype with Silver Spring School. Saskatoon in Canada or Veteran’s Memorial School in New Jersey, our children have travelled far and wide. We participated in a 48-hour Skype-a-thon on the 13th& 14th November where the students had a folk music exchange with the students of Hungary and a food exchange with the children of Russia. There was also a virtual tour to the Miyawaki forest in the Ashok Leyland School Hosur. Learning should extend beyond the walls of the classroom and that is what we’re trying to do.
Through the gamification tools like-Minecraft Education Edition, Hour-Of-Code, Kodu etc. of Microsoft, the learning is more interactive and effective.
Two of our students became the finalists for the Google-Code-In’18 for exceptional contributions to OSGeo, an open software organization.
On 1st November our school also participated in a “Global Outdoor Classroom Day.” More and more children globally are spending lesser time outdoors, despite the fact that learning outdoors and playing outdoors is essential for good health. This year 3.75 million children worldwide participated in this global event.
Technology and robotics, has caught the fancy of many children at our school. We now have a tie-up with Progate- Japan’s largest web based online Program in which students learn coding and latest Programs like Ruby and Python. Already children have won certificates and two of them “Krishna Tulsyan” of Class IX & “Sagar Rai” of Class VI have won the Progate Star Learner Award and are amongst the top 100 in India.Sanskar Singh of class VI was certified as the ‘Super Learner’ for completing maximum lessons of Progate.
Our students participated in Asia Pacific’s largest Educational Exhibition & Conference DIDAC at Pragati Maidan New Delhi from the 5th to the 8th of October this year where they had the opportunity to see the latest and most innovative technologies, the highlight being the humanoid robot NAO.
“Razzmatazz” is our signature Inter-School Event that has been there since our first session. This year “Razzmatazz went Global” with participation from 25+ schools of Lucknow, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Indoreand also Lebanon. It’s a much-awaited event that exposes students to creative competitions.
This year we hosted out First Inter-School Dr. Rajaram Jaipuria Memorial Debate on the 13th& 14th of October in honor of the great visionary, and father of Chairman Shri Shishir Jaipuria. The debate received an overwhelming response with participating teams from Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad & Varanasi and it was judged by a distinguished panel of eminent figures.
Over 100 students of our school participated in the India International Science Festival organized in Lucknow from the 5th to the 8th of October. They attended a 90-minute lecture on First Aid along with 3500 other students of City Schools and entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the same.
The students were engaged in a whole school activity, brainstorming on real world problems related to E waste under the aegis of ‘Karo Sambhav” an organization that finds inclusive, sustainable, scalable and transparent solutions for e-waste handling in India. We won a Gold Award amongst the participating schools of the city for doing exceptional work and creating awareness.
The school organized ‘Student Star Awards’ to felicitate the students in the categories-Academic excellence, Cent Percent Attendance, All Rounder, Best Handwriting, Exemplary Behavior, Most TechSavvy, Star Reader, Most Confident Speaker, Best Hosteller, Best Buddy, Super Speller and Budding Talent.
The school also conducts Olympiads in Hindi, English, Mathematics, Science and Computers. Aradhya Misra of class 1A won a Medal of Distinction and a Certificate of Zonal Excellence in Science. Sayuri Kadian of Class 1A won a Certificate of Zonal Excellence and a Medal of Distinction in English Olympiad. Aradhya Misra of Class 1A won a Certificate of Zonal Excellence and a Medal of Distinctionin the Cyber Olympiad and Mili Verma of Class IXB was a TERI Olympiad UP State winner.
Aradhya Misra of Class 1A was also a National Winner of the Hindi Olympiad conducted under the aegis of Hindi Vikas Sansthan.
As part of Parent Engagement, we invite parents to take up sessions with the students so that they have a real-life connect. Sessions on Speech recognition, Innovations by one of the Fortune 500 companies-3M, Dr. Kalam’s contribution to India, Yoga etc.were taken up with the students. The parents enthusiastically participated in activities like-Run for Fun, Cyclothon, Mother’s Day celebrations, Tattoo making in Beach Party etc.
Under the aegis of SPIC MACAY renowned artists are invited to the school. This not only takes the learning beyond the classrooms but also motivates the students who are passionate to take up Performing Arts as a career option. Dr. Soma Ghosh and Ustaad Shakir Khan performed in the school premises in September.
Children participated in CBSE Clusters and went for the East Zone Skating Tournament.
A grand exhibition was organized to celebrate 150 glorious years of the Tata Group. Seventeen ventures of the group were taken up where the students and teachers engaged in extensive research and spoke about the CSR initiatives, Awards and Recognition, Work Culture etc.
The school focuses on the ongoing professional development of the teachers and arranges for trainings, webinars and skype sessions. Mr. G. Balasubramanian, Ex Academic Director-CBSE took up a session on 7th April on Effective Classroom Strategies, Mr. Roderick Fraser’s webinar on 5 Global trends in Education was attended by a few teachers. The Science teachers attended a Chemistry training in Ghaziabad by Dr. Vijay Sarda, Dr. K. K Arora and Dr. Suchi Dhingra. The pre-primary teachers attended a training on ‘The Developmentally Appropriate Practices’ in Kanpur. Teachers also attended a Jodo Gyan workshop on 28th and 29th November in New Delhi.
In the SMC meetings, the progress of the school was reviewed and plans for academic and infrastructural improvement were shared.
