Held on the 6th of October, 2018 the ceremony commenced an international sensation for the year. The feminist organization serves as a common umbrella to all women empowerment related activities and initiatives by organisations both small and large. Also present on the panel of stalwarts were eminent individuals who have made a mark on the youth of today, like Dr. Awadh Dubey, Dr. Harshvardhan, Mrs. Meena Agnihotri, Mr. P.K. Shah and others. With a motivating opening address by Mrs. Meena Agnihotri, the ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, President Shri Ram Nath Kovind Ji, and Governor, UP, Shri Ram Naik Ji along with others.

The organizing team truly saved the best for the last, with the closing address by His Excellency himself, who threw light upon FOGSI, his love for his hometown Kanpur, the bane of maternal mortality and the recent initiatives undertaken by the central government to control it. He highlighted the cons of India’s patriarchal society, while encouraging us, the torchbearers of tomorrow, to help propagate the common noble vision of women empowerment.

The ceremony ended on a high note, rightly exemplifying the adage- ‘Give her wings, let her soar.
The experience truly was exceptional and worth remembering. To be in such proximity with the First Citizen of the World’s Largest Democracy was historic, to say the least. The students beamed with excitement and applauded till their palms turned red in respect and appreciation for the President of the Republic of India.
